Uwe Gräbner was born in Stuttgart in 1960. He moved to Vienna in 1983. He remained in Vienna until 1992: during this period, his work drew considerable attention in Vienna and in Germany, attracting various scholarships and honours. He studied for five years at the Akademie für Bildende Künste in Vienna, in the celebrated master class conducted by Rudolf Hausner, perhaps one of the few places in Europe where it was still possible to study the techniques of the Old Masters. His work has been shown in Monaco, Austria, the Netherlands, Canada, France, Switzerland, Germany, and the United States. He has lived in Geneva since 1992.
